Culture

Singaporean Chinese, a blended culture, is the majority of Singapore’s population, making up 75% of the total. English is the primary language of education, with Mandarin being the vernacular of the Chinese.

Chinese and Malay culture can be found in Singapore, with a large number of Chinese temples and mosques, and Malay mosques and masjids. Singapore’s food is similar to that of the rest of Asia, with the most popular dishes being noodles, rice and curry. Some of the more notable dishes include char kway teow, laksa and curry laksa. Street food and hawker food is common, with a notable variety of hawker centre dishes available.

Singaporeans also have a love for coffee. Coffee in Singapore is well known for its cheap prices, with the average cup of coffee costing approximately between S$0.50 and S$2.00. There are plenty of coffee shops in Singapore for customers to choose from.

Music

Traditional Chinese and Malay musical instruments are commonly heard, as are the standard Western instruments. Singing is also common, and many Singaporean songs and musicals can be heard in its musicals.
